AgCarolina Farm Credit is proud to have Kyle as a part of our team as a summer intern. The Wake County native shares information here about his background and interest in agriculture.
My name is Kyle Boyette, and I am an AgCarolina Farm Credit intern in the Rocky Mount Branch. I am currently a senior at East Carolina University studying business administration with a concentration in marketing.
I grew up in Zebulon, NC, where there is a heavy presence of agriculture. Agriculture has always been an interest of mine and has only grown stronger as I’ve aged. I have worked on a farm during the summer and school breaks for the last five years. Something about agriculture always pulls me back to the farm. During my junior year at East Carolina, I took a class in finance that appealed to me. While having a strong background in agriculture and a new found interest in finance, I soon realized that AgCarolina would be an ideal fit for me. In the few weeks I have been here, I do not think that I could have found a more perfect fit.
So far this summer, I have observed the loan application process and multiple different loan closings. I’ve also visited different farms to perform land and equipment evaluations. This is definitely one of my favorite things to do because you get to interact and build relationships with the farmers of Nash and Edgecombe County.
Along with the different things in the office, I had the chance to attend the Farm Credit new hire training in Columbia, SC. This was a great opportunity for me because I met a lot of great people and learned a lot of valuable information. We discussed everything from the history of Farm Credit to balance sheets and tax returns. A week after returning from Columbia, I got the chance to shadow a loan officer putting much of what I learned into action. It was really cool because I could follow right along with everything he was doing.
I can’t wait to see what my future holds at AgCarolina Farm Credit!
